Time to say goodbye!

Sunday, December 1, 2019  - our last day in Nairobi, Kenya!

We thank God for holding the rain back all of Saturday. It started raining about 8pm when we were safely back in the house. It rained all night and ceased in the morning. By the time we got out to go to church, the skies were clearing!
It was a wonderful Advent church service at St. Francis Anglican Church in Karen.

After church we passed through Java for one last coffee treat! After a nice Kenyan lunch in honor of Leah – which included cooked green bananas [Leah’s favorite], open-fire roasted goat meat [Leah loved it], vegetables and fresh fruit salad [another favorite of Leah’s] it was time for final packing and final goodbyes. We had a chance to say goodbye to our dedicated driver, Ibra (short for Ibrahim). He is a gentle soul, very patient and knows all the short cuts to avoid the annoying Nairobi traffic.

My niece, Ciku (pronounced Shiko) partnered with us on the ground. She was our main photographer as well as "chauffeur"  when Ibra was not available. God surrounded us with people who came alongside us so that we God's purposes could be fulfilled in and through the Precious Jewels Study. I had one more time to sit and visit with my dad who is still adjusting to our new normal without my mom. Then it was time to pray together and give final hugs.

My sister, Esther, drove us to the airport. The young lady at the check-in counter was very nice. She allowed me to combine put my shoes in the suitcase so that I did not have to check in two bags. I was a little over the 23Kg required but she was okay with it. It is such a relief to have all weighty stuff checked in. I am so grateful for her kindness towards me.

We are now enroute south first to Dar-es-Salaam then the flight turns around and heads north to Zurich. We will arrive in Zurich Monday morning, which will be Sunday evening in the U.S.

At JKIA Nairobi

We have arrived in Zurich, had our Starbucks coffee for breakfast and received our boarding passes! Waiting to board our last leg to Dulles Airport in Washington DC in about two hours.

In Zurich. Next photo DC!🙏
